Hashimoto promoted to Kealakekua manager

Hashimoto promoted to Kealakekua manager

Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union has promoted Todd Hashimoto to Kealakekua branch manager. Hashimoto has been with the financial institution for more than five years, most recently as a loan officer at the Kaloko branch.

A graduate of Konawaena High School, Hashimoto holds an associate’s degree in sales and marketing from Hawaii Community College-Hilo. His financial experience includes a stint with Central Pacific Bank as a loan officer and as a buyer for Citifinancial Auto on Oahu.

As the Kealakekua branch manager, he will also lend support to the Student Credit Union at Konawaena High School, where he was once a member.

HIEDB announces officers, directors

The Hawaii Island Economic Development Board recently announced its 2012-13 officers and board of directors.

Greg Chun continues as chairman of the board with James Takamine serving as the vice chairman. Mike Kaleikini is the secretary and David Honma is treasurer. Roberta Chu is the board’s immediate past chairwoman.

Members of the board of directors include LeeAnn Crabbe, Richard Ha, Richard Henderson, Jay Ignacio, Marvin Min, Barry Mizuno, Patricia Provalenko Price, Mike Sayama, Barry Taniguchi and Bill Walter.

The organization’s islandwide initiatives focus on place (infrastructure planning and natural resources including environment, agriculture, energy and historic sites), people (education, community engagement, workforce development, innovation and community health) and products (agriculture, innovation industries and tourism).

Place-based strategic focus areas include Saddle Road Phase III alignment, invasive species control, food security, fuel self-sufficiency and heritage corridor interpretive plans.

People initiatives include Huiana internship mentoring program, robotics and Project EAST, Kamaaina Come Home, University of Hawaii’s Hilo and Kona campuses, Tourism-Educate to Innovate, astronomy (Thirty -Meter Telescope) and promotion of life sciences through Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center and Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority.

Product initiatives include EPA recycling, consume local campaign, agritourism and an innovation sector database.

TechConKona
slated for Aug. 2

Teaching business owners technology solutions to boost their triple bottom line is the goal of TechConKona, a four-track business solutions conference planned from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa’s convention center.

TechConKona will address questions about emerging technology trends and how businesses can implement these solutions.

Paul Hawken, author of “Natural Capitalism,” and Dustin Luther, head of social media at Dun and Bradstreet Credibility Corp., are the event’s keynote speakers.

The conference will focus on the key elements of business success, including how to raise funds, how to increase sales with online tools, mastering search and lowering energy costs. It will include expert-led discussions on topics including digital marketing, renewable energy and start-ups on the Big Island.

Tickets to the event are $75 before June 29 and $100 afterward. In addition to the conference, registration includes lunch, a post-event networking reception and access to exhibitors.
